Shri Kamdhenu Gosamrakshana Kendra
The Go-Kendra was established in order to prevent merciless butchering of old and helpless cows and for protection and welfare of such cows. It is planned to establish all facilities to take care of 100 cows. The arrangements include Goshala - sheds for cows, clinical facility, workers quarters, store room, Napier grass cultivation, water storage and food storage facilities etc..
The estimated project cost is 25 Lacs. Kendra is a charitable body and presently not receiving any aid from any other institutions. The project is to be realized by the support and help of you people who love our culture and heritage. We hope that your love for cows and your respect towards our cultural values will definitely support us in realizing our goal.
We are happy to inform you that with the limited support and resources, we are already taking care of more than thirty cows. As you can see, this project needs continuous resources to take care and feed these cows. The hard fact is that Kendra incurs recurring expenses but no income. That makes it highly difficult to think of long term goals. We need to establish a permanent fund to run the Kendra perpetually. We have some scheme for the benefit of donors.
- Go Dhama Seva: Building for 10 cows : Rs 1.00 Lac
- Ganga Seva: Water supply arrangement: Rs 0.5 Lac
- Clinical Facilities : Rs 0.25 Lac
- Food storage facility : Rs 0.15 Lac
- Life long adoption of one cow: Rs 0.10 Lac
Apart from this we have other small schemes also for interested people. You may donate towards daily expenses of the Kendra or you can adopt one cow for its life time. You may donate for feeding the cows on your birth day or your dear one's birthday. You may pay towards one week or one month clinical expenses or food expenses. You can participate in any way you wish.
As you know, it is a recurring expense project. We need to take care of old and disabled cows today, tomorrow and days together to come. We need mountainous strength and support to keep this activity live and active. As each little drop added together makes a ocean, each one's contribution is needed to build up that huge strength, to provide all the old and disabled cows a peaceful life during their last days. Your donations may be made to 'Shri Kamadhenu Gosamrakshana Kendra, Hoovinakere' by cheque, draft, money order or any other means. You may donate in terms of medicine, food items or other useful items to the Kendra.
Shri Kamadhenu Gosamrakhsana Kendra project was initiated and started by H.H. Shri Vishwoththama Teertha swamiji, Sode Shri Vadiraja MaTha, Udupi. Shri Swamiji was dreaming about this since long time and was trying to come up with a nice shelter with all facilities, for all old and disabled cows. Few devotees, from Koteshwar came forward to work voluntarily for this project and with the blessing of Lord Krishna, this project was started at Hoovinakere,( the sacred birth place of Shri Vadiraja Gurusarvabhouma) Koteshwar, Udupi district, Karnatka, India. Shri Vishwoththama Teertha swamiji has donated a vast land of about 5 acres for this project and contributed a initial fund of one lakh to start the building. Shri Swamiji has also donated many wooden items for construction of windows and doors. Shri Swamiji is founder patron of this gokendra and with his blessing, it is hoped achieve total protection of cows in and around the land of Udupi Shri Krishna.
In Feb. 1994, on the birthday celebration of Shri Guru Vadiraja, ( Magha Sudda dwadashi), H.H Shri Vidyasamudra swamiji of Krishnapur MaTha, Udupi, laid the foundation stone for the Gokendra. With the supports of all devotees, a building to accommodate 25 cows, a store room, watchman room, a 25 feet wide well, overhead tank, water pump, water supply arrangements etc. were made ready. Shri Gururaja Puranik, a dedicated devotee of Shri Vadiraja, spent all his time in this construction activities. After two years, in 1996, again on the holy day of shri Vadiraja Jayanthi , the Gokendra was inaugurated by H.H Shri Vidyasamudra swamiji, of Krishnapur MaTha. Since then, the Gokendra has become a sweet home for many old and deserted cows.
Presently Shri Subrahmanya Bhat and family are resident care takers of the Gokendra. This family, with two children, has come forward to dedicate their seva to Gokendra, inspite of inadequate facilities for family living at that place. Since last two years they are sincerely serving all the cows and providing them nourishment, love and care. Gokendra is looking for donors to provide some basic necessities to this family like kitchen, bathroom etc.
Till today, donors from all corners have supported this project, by all means. As all of you know, this is a recurring expense project and we need a lot of fund to continuously feed, medicate and support old and disabled cows. Unlike other charity projects like temple, guest house or school construction, where the project can generate some revenue after stabilization, this project does not generate any revenue. Obviously there is no income to Gokendra by the cows.( Hence this is a charity in total). We need a massive support to Gokendra to shelter more cows. There is enough land to construct shelter and there are enough people to take care of the cows. We need financial assistance for food and medication for these cows.
We hope that each one of you carry this message with you, spread around your friends and relatives, and extend your support to Gokendra, to save at least one cow, in your life time.
